Ayurveda - The Indian science
of health and longevity, based on the 3 Doshas (or body types),
Vatta, Pitta and Kapha.
AstroMaps - is a method that simplifies the
selection of a location where certain astrological conditions
would prevail. Instead of casting a new chart each time a person
moves the computer program generates a map showing lines that
signify where a particular planet is prominent in its influence.
This provides a graphic tool, which the astrologer can use to
guide the client in relocating or other ventures requiring geographical
location.
Bhagavad Gita - The Bhagavad Gita, is a central
text of Hinduism, a dialog between the god Krishna and the warrior
Arjuna. Dating from around 400 BC, the Gita touches on the varying
concepts of Hindu Philisophy.

“state of life”.

Mahabharata and Ramayana - Indian national
epics, in the form of poetry. The Mahabharata, which is the
older of the two, was written from 540 - 300 BC, and tells of
the legends of the Bharatas, a Vedic Aryan group. The Ramayana,
a love story with moral and spiritual lessons, was based on
oral traditions passed on, until its written form came around
the 1st century AD, by the poet Valmiki.
Mahadasha - In Vedic Astrology, each planet rules over
different cycles in time, and these changing periods are called
Mahadashas. The length of time in each period varies with each
planet, with the longest running for 20 years (Venus), to the
shortest (the Sun), which runs for 6 years. These periods are
then broken down further into sub-periods or Bhuktis, which
can also vary from 1-3 years. The Jyotish believe that change
in the Mahadashas often herald significant transformations or
the beginning of a new phase in one’s life.
Muhurtha - a Jyotish almanac or “science
of Timing” of favorable and unfavorable dates for specific
events and undertakings, unique to a person or people’s
birth chart.
Nakshatra - Lunar constellations, each spreading
over 130 20' of the zodiac, used in Jyotish analysis. This is
not just a component unique to Vedic astrology, but it is also
possibly the most ancient part of the science.
Pandit - A learned man; a scholar
Sidereal Zodiac - Zodiac based on the placement
of the stars, not the Vernal Equinox. Sidereal zodiac moves
with the constellations. When the constellation of Aries moved,
the constellation of Pisces moved into the position it vacated.
Sidereal now calls the area of the chart traditionally ruled
by Aries Pisces. The definition of the area is still the same,
just the name was changed to show the movement of the constellations.
Upayas - Remedies prescribed to combat and
deflect the troubles and difficulties in one’s life. This
may include the chanting of mantras, fasting, sacrifice, prayer,
worship, and acts of charity, personalized to the individual’s
situation.
The Vedas - The Vedas are the primary sacred
texts of Hinduism.
There are four Vedas, the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and
Atharva Veda. The Rig Veda, which is the oldest, was composed
around 1500 B.C., and codified about 600 B.C. The Vedas contain
hymns, incantations, and rituals from ancient India along with
the Book of the Dead, the Enuma Elish, the I Ching, and the
Avesta, they are among the most ancient religious texts still
in existence. Besides their spiritual value, they also give
a unique view of everyday life in India four thousand years
ago. The Vedas are also the most ancient extensive texts in
an Indo-European language, and as such are invaluable in the
study of comparative linguistics |
